Have you ever heard someone talk about pH when talking about acids and bases? Have you ever not known what pH is?
pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions within a solution. Solutions wth a pH of less than seven are acidic and solutions with a pH greater than seven are basic. Neutral solutions have a pH of exactly seven.

How do you stop a pH from changing?
You use a buffer!!! A buffer is a substance that prevents change in the acidity of a solution when an an acid or base is added to the solution or when the solution is diluted.
How does it work?
A buffer works because it neutralizes the ions in a solution, so the pH does not change.
